Внеклассное мероприятие по английскому языку. Тема: “День святого Валентина”

Презентация к уроку

Цель: Расширение знаний учащихся о культурных традициях страны изучаемого языка.

Тип урока:урок закрепления материала.

Оборудование: Доска, наглядный материал, компьютер, экран, мультимедийная установка для показа презентации.

Познавательный аспект: учащиеся знакомятся с традициями и культурой страны изучаемого языка на основе праздника Дня Святого Валентина (St. Valentine’s Day).

Развивающий аспект: целенаправленное развитие психических функций, связанных с речевой деятельностью, таких как внимание, способность к анализу и синтезу, логическое мышление, способность к выявлению языковых закономерностей, языковая догадка, зрительная и слуховая память, фонематический слух.

Учебный аспект: работа, направленная на овладение всеми видами речевой деятельности: говорением, аудированием, чтением и письмом.

Воспитательный аспект: повышение интереса к изучению английского языка, воспитание культуры языкового общения, уважительного отношения друг к другу, умения внимательно слушать собеседника.

Языковой материал: слова, речевые образцы, монологические и диалогические высказывания.

I. Мотивация учебной деятельности, сообщение темы и цели урока (Слайд 1)

Организационный момент: приветствие и ознакомление с темой, целями, задачами урока.

II. Основной этап (Слайд 2)

Юноша медленно идет навстречу девушке (ведущие праздника). При этом читает стихотворение и дарит розу девушке.

Here’s special valentine
With lots of love for you
And since you’re very special
Here are hugs and kisses, too!

Затем они поворачиваются к классу и здороваются.

Девушка: The boys and the girls! Good afternoon!

Юноша: It’s lovely to meet you here, at Valentine’s party.

Юноша: St. Valentine’s Day, February 14, has been a customary day for choosing sweethearts and exchanging love.

Девушка: What kind of holiday is St. Valentine’s Day? What is his origin?

No one really knows the actual origin of Valentine’s Day. Many historians consider this was held on February 14 to honor Faunus, the god of animal life, hunting, herding, the patron of husbandry, and the guardian of the secret lore of nature. After Christianity spread, some think this pagan festival eventually became Valentine’s Day.

Other experts connect Valentine’s Day with two saints of the early Christian church. According to one story, St. Valentine’s was a priest who would marry young couples against the orders of the Roman Emperor Claudius 11, who believed that single young men made better soldiers. This story goes back to about A.D. 200.

There also was another St. Valentine who was a good friend to children. Because he would not worship the gods decreed by the Roman emperor, he was put in prison. While he was imprisoned, the children that he had befriended missed him and brought him loving notes. Many of the notes expressed the thought that “absence makes the heart grow fonder.” He was supposedly executed on February 14 in A.D. 270. Some people think this is why we exchange friendly and caring messages on this day.

Many old-fashioned Valentine’s Day customs involved ways single women could learn their future husbands might be. In England in the 1700s, women wrote men’s names on scraps of paper, rolled each in a ball of clay, and dropped them into water. The first paper that surfaced supposedly had the name of the woman’s true love.

Some people connect the celebrating of Valentine’s Day with an old English belief that birds choose their mates on February. This, too, possible, since spring was less than a month away. The calendar used before 1582 was slightly different from the one we use now. Spring arrived on March 11 on the old calendar.

The customs of sending valentine cards started in Europe in the 1700s. Commercial valentines were first made in the early 1800s. Kate Greenaway, a British artist, was one of the leading makers of valentines. Her valentines are known for her drawing of little children and the varied shades of blues and greens that she favored. Whatever the origin, Valentine’s Day is celebrated in many parts of the world today and is a holiday for both young and old.

Цель урока : ознакомление учащихся с обычаями и традициями празднования праздника “St. Valentine’s Day”.

Good morning, dear boys and girls! Glad to see you! Do you like holidays?

And I like them, too. What holidays do you know? (Учащиеся называют известные им праздники.) We start our lesson, which connected with a beautiful holiday, one of the most popular in Great Britain. On the 14th of February people celebrate St. Valentine’s Day. This holiday is the favourite holiday of all English children and adults we will read about history this holiday, have a competition and write cards. This is a sad story about love. Now let’s read the text about it

Valentine was a Christian priest who didn’t like the new law. He secretly married people who were in love. One night the emperor’s soldiers caught him and put him in prison. Valentine was going to die.

Many young people felt sorry for Valentine and visited him in prison. One of them was the daughter of a prison guard. On the day of his execution Valentine wrote a note to her and signed it “Love from your Valentine “. This was on 14 February 269 AD.

T.: Good morning, everybody! I am glad to see you at our unusual lesson today! You’ve just heard a part of Snow White’s song from Walt Disney’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”. In this song is spoken about dreams of a young girl, who would like to find her love and to meet her prince.

I think this song is the good beginning for our topic about one of the best British winter holidays which young and old people love. Have you guessed this holiday? – Of course, you’re right. It is St. Valentine’s Day. ( Слайд 3)

St. Valentine’s Day, February 14, has been a customary day for choosing sweethearts and exchanging love-tokens from time immemorial. ( Слайды 5, 6)

St. Valentine’s Day is a religious holiday, which is celebrated in Great Britain, in the USA, in many European countries such as Italy, France, Germany, Denmark and others. St. Valentine’s Day has roots in several legends. And one of the early symbols of love is Cupid, the Roman God of Love, who is represented by the image of a young boy with bow and arrow. ( Слайд 7)

This is the legend of how St. Valentine’s Day began. Claudius II, who was Emperor in Rome at that time, made a law that no one could become engaged or get married. He was afraid if men had sweethearts or wives, they would not want to fight in wars. Now, a kindly priest named Valentine, seeing the love of young people (couples), married some secretly. When Emperor Claudius found out, he had Valentine put to death.

Even in prison, Valentine showed his love for everyone. His jailer had a young daughter who was blind. And by a miracle, Valentine restored her sight. Just before his death, on February 14, he sent her a farewell message signed “From your Valentine.”

There are many other legends about how Valentine’s Day started, and no one knows for sure whether any of them are true.
